A Right Royal Holiday!
King Harry's Cottage - May 18th to May 26th 2007.
Apart from the play on names, I'm sure anyone staying in King Harry's Cottage will feel like royalty! The idyllic riverside location, elevated position, the mysterious and enchanting gardens . . . and the "royal barge" (in this case a Plymouth Pilot boat called Lady Lydia) moored nearby, are enough to make everyone forget their troubles. But not to forget the friendly and helpful people who multitask around the cottages and the ferry, yet still find the time for a chat and to make you feel genuinely welcome.
This is a record of our Spring break at the cottage during 2007, a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Right: The cottage photographed from the ferry.
On the left is a "secret passage" that runs behind, and partly underneath the cottage.
On the right, a gate and steps to the patio area and alternative rear porch entrance. This is actually the "main" entrance, since the cottage is reverse level accommodation.

Right: Another view of the river, taken from a seating area on one of the higher levels.
A selection of flora found in the gardens - Above: Pieris, showing off it's blossom and colour changing character.
Left: Azaleas in spring bloom.
Right: One of several early roses.
Below: The pontoon, photographed from the patio. One of the frequent passenger ferries that run up and down the river from Falmouth is about to dock. You can also see the Lady Lydia, the blue and white pilot boat moored on the pontoon. She provided us many hours happy voyaging (again). Many thanks to Geoff for getting her tuned and painted - she looked and handled like a dream.
The weather was on our side for almost every day of our stay. In addition to the cottage we enjoyed several woodland walks exploring the local area, a visit to Truro, a couple of lunches at the Smugglers Cottage, just up the river - and of course we went across on the King Harry Ferry. More pages will be completed soon, and when they're done I'll add the links to them here.
King Harry's Cottage was a great holiday, and thoroughly recommended!
