Merlin - Sussex Downs 1996
Merlin was our first greyhound - he passed away aged 12 years, on May 30th 2003.
This page is dedicated to his memory.
We adopted Merlin in 1993, he was about 18 months old at the time, and had a habit of simply running away whenever an opportunity presented.
Previous attempts to home him had failed, and after several different "owners" it took quite a while to win his trust.
Once he settled in, we realised we'd found a very special kind of dog: Their reputation as racing dogs certainly belies their calm, almost "laid-back" temperaments, and like his successors pictured below, Merlin became an intelligent, loyal and affectionate family member. In fact, we became so enthralled by his nature, that we've continued to keep Greyhounds ever since, and usually adopt "unwanted" dogs that have either finished their racing days, "failed trials" for whatever reason, or have been neglected/mistreated.

The three pictures here are of our current duo, Above left is Lady, who we nickname "Bubble", 'cos she does
On the right is Angus, or Gus as we now call him . . sometimes referred to as the gusbin, due to his voracious appetite!
Below: Gus again - basking in the May sunshine.

Above left: "Which way did that wabbit go?" Above right - Relaxing after a busy day

In the picture above, 2 of these guys do what I ask, and the other takes no notice of me . . can you guess which is which?
Above left: Gus and Lady with Jaycee, my favourite kennel maid. Right: The dogs & me having a quiet lurk.

Last is Gus again - remember to let sleeping dogs lie
'Cos he's watching you!
